General Manager Don Brandt
For nearly 40 years, Don Brandt has been the heart of Bismarck’s Big Boy. Don started his Big Boy career at the age of 21, and later became the general manager. Don has helped preserve the restaurant’s traditions while keeping it thriving as the city’s oldest continuously operating eatery.
Open since 1954, Big Boy is a community landmark—famous for Pizza Burgers Flying Style, fries with gravy, crispy fried chicken, and nostalgic drinks like the Hot-n-Tot and Purple Cow.
Don, the longest-serving employee across all 340 Big Boy locations worldwide, leads by example alongside a loyal staff. Under his watch, the restaurant has celebrated its 70th anniversary, earned the Chamber EDC Granite Award, and won countless “Best of the Best” honors.
Don’s dedication to tradition, quality, and community, along with catering and a food truck, keeps Big Boy a beloved local favorite. For generations, it’s been the first stop for those coming home to Bismarck, a place where familiar flavors and hometown memories always meet.
